1992

• MMM pioneered the prestigious Physician Assistant program, Post Graduate Diploma in Physician Assistant by the Council of Madras Medical Mission under the stewardship of the then Medical Director Dr. K. M.Cherian.

1993

• Prof. Ramakrishnan from BITS Pilani facilitated the collaboration with the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) ,Pilani granting a university recognition to the Physician Assistant , naming it as Masters in Vocational Science .This resulted in the birth of MMM - BITS Training Center,

1994

• The 3 year M.Phil Physician Assistant program was launched for the undergraduates in science by MMM BITS Training Center with the degrees being conferred by BITS Pilani.

• Identifying the need for qualified personnel in the Department of Microbiology Professor Grace Koshy initiated the Diploma in Medical Microbiology - a one year program with an aggressive stipendiary internship of 6 months under the council of Madras Medical Mission.

1995

• To enable candidates who could not be admitted into the MBBS course but who evinced interest to work in the field of medicine , the 4 year BS.PA (3 year +1 year internship) was thrown open to Higher Secondary students by the MMM-BITS training centre. Today this program has received “landslide recognition” by the medical fraternity in India

1997

• A one year Diploma in Medical Lab Technology was started by Professor Dr. Sarasa Bharathy Arumugam in the Department of Pathology under the auspices of Council of Madras Medical Mission.

1998

• This council of Madras Medical Mission also approved the two semester P.G Diploma in Medical Sociology initiated by Dr. Philomena Mariados, then Assistant Director of MMM.

2000

• Dr.Nirmala Jessudasson, then HOD Dietitics and Mr. Theodore Manoharan Medical Record officer too started the Diploma in Dietitic Management and Diploma in Medical Records Management respectively under the Council of MMM.

2004

• The PG. Diploma in Cardio Pulmonary Rehabilitation was also introduced under the Council of MMM in the Department of Cardiac Rehabilitation for Physiotherapists.

• Collaborated with Christian Medical Association of India , New Delhi for: Diploma in Anesthesia Technology,Diploma in Medical Records Technolog

• MMM collaborated with Manipal Academy of Higher Education(MAHE). A Deemed University in Manipal for the following :

  • PG Diploma in Cardio Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certificate
  • P.G.Diploma .in Medical Sociology
  • B.Sc.in Medical Lab Technology
  • B.Sc Health Information Administration

  Since the U.G.C stipulated geographical limitations for MAHE to conduct courses in Tamilnadu admissions for this collaboration were done only for 2 years. However all admitted students were permitted to complete their courses under this university.

2005

• The MMM BITS Training Center was renamed as MMM Academy of Medical Sciences in March 2005.

2006

• Inauguration of MMM Academy of Medical Sciences building at Nolambur on 25th January 2006 Collaborated with Madurai Kamarajar University, Madurai for the following Distance Education programs:

  • P.G. Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • P.G. Diploma in Bio Statics
  • P.G. Diploma in Health Information Management
  • P.G. Diploma in Hospital Document Management
  • P.G. Diploma in Radiography and Imaging Technology
  • P.G. Diploma in Pharmaceutical Chemistry
  • P.G. Diploma in Hospital Laboratory Technology

  These programs were conducted until the year 2010 . Since MMM collaborated with Sikkim Manipal University for UG and PG programs in Allied Health Sciences the collaboration with Madurai Kamarajar University was not renewed from the year 2011

2007

• Medical Education - Starting of M.Sc Medical Sociology Degree course in Madras Medical Mission. Permission was granted and orders were Issued by Health and Family Welfare (MCA2) Department vide G.O (Ms) No. 130 dated 27.7.2006 .

• M.Sc Clinical Nutrition and B.Sc Medical Sociology courses commenced in MMM AMS in collaboration with Avinashilingam University for Women.

• MMM Academy of Medical Sciences collaborated with Sikkim Manipal University for the following programs:

  • B.Sc Applied Technology
  • B.Sc Medical Laboratory Technology
  • B.Sc Medical Imaging Technology
  • M.Sc Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs
  • MBA in Health Care Services

2011

• Affiliation by TN DR MGR Medical University for M.Sc Clinical Nutrition

2012

• Affiliation by TN DR MGR Medical University for M.Sc. MLT (2012) During the years 2010 to 2012, all PG Diploma Programs of the Council of Madras Medical Mission and other collaborative programs have been phased out. Consolidation of quality teaching and quality learning has been the main focus.

2014

• Affiliation by TN DR MGR Medical University for B.Sc. Cardiac Technology.

2015

• Affiliation by TN DR MGR Medical University for B.Sc. Medical Lab Technology.
